If you haven’t watched Wednesday yet, you need to carve out some time to do so. Being a fan of The Adams Family for my entire life, I was looking forward to this series. I was also very leery of how it would be. I mean, there are just some shows and movies that shouldn’t be messed with. However, since this was more about Wednesday than based on the entire family (they are also in this) I decided I would go in with an open mind.
SYNOPSIS:
“Wednesday” is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this series. You get everything the Adamas Family movies gave to you and more! It was like a macabre whodunit and Jenna Ortega played the heck out Wednesday. The rest of the cast were also phenomenal. It’s definitely a binge-worthy series.
The critically-acclaimed series received 12 Emmy nominations in 2023 including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for Jenna Ortega who became the second youngest woman to ever be nominated in the category and the third Latina following Rita Moreno and America Ferrera. Tim Burton was nominated for Best Director For A Comedy Series. The 8-episode series was watched for almost 6 billion minutes during its first five days available on Netflix and remains Netflix’s most popular English TV series of all time with 252.1 Million views.
