I was given the opportunity to review TokyoTreat, a monthly subscription box that sends all kinds of delicious treats from Japan right to your door. My oldest son loves all things Japan and trying new treats seemed like a great way to taste the culture.

There’s just something about getting a box of treats that is super intriguing, the surprise of not knowing what’s inside, and with this one, literally not knowing sometimes what the treat even is. The packaging on most of the snacks is written in Japanese, so that’s a bit tricky when you first see it but don’t worry, they have you covered.

ToykoTreat includes a very informative booklet that tells you about everything in the box, some history about the item and even gives you the allergen information in case you are like me and have to worry about that.

The TokyoTreat box comes with 15-20 hand-selected treats such as Ramen, KitKats, cakes, cookies, and even a drink. Our box had a theme and it was Sakura festival food and our box was packed full of yozakura-inspired treats.

Here are the items we received;

Mini Caplico – This is a classic festival treat and it reminds me of a similar treat that we have here and according to my kids, they taste very similar.

Squid Rice Cracker – I was the only one brave enough to try this one and it was good! Despite being a little scared of the word squid, it was mild and I would eat them again.

Yakisoba – This was on the top of the list for my son to try and he said it was just “okay.” There was a strong taste of clove which threw him a little and he couldn’t get past it.

Sakura Waffle Cookie – This is a sakura-infused filled cookie and it’s light, crispy and delicious.

Sakura Cream Cake – This cake was fluffy and filled with cream flavored with cherry juice. Both kids loved this one. It kind of looked like a tiny hamburger but with a sweet filling.

Strawberry KitKats – You can’t go wrong with KitKats, so these were a no-brainer and they loved them.

Koikeya Nori Shio Chips – This was a favorite, not only were they super fresh and crisp, the chili oil seasoning was perfection! I need a bag of this stat!

Sakura Karinto – The boys and the husband loved these sweet little guys. They are fried dough bits that have been tossed in sugar.

Ramune Candy – These reminded us of sweet tarts. They melted in your mouth and had a nice subtle citrus flavor.

Glico Bisco Cracker – This strawberry-flavored cream cookie was a hit with the family. I wish I could have tried it because it smelled amazing!

Curry Senbei Crackers – I think this was the only thing no one wanted to try. Curry isn’t something any of us like but if it was gluten-free, I would have tried it.

Strawberry Yogurt Hard Candies – These were a favorite of mine. They reminded me of strawberry starburst but in a hard candy. Very tart and sweet.

Premium Ghana – Probably the favorite among everyone, these chocolates were amazing. Super rich and creamy. I would buy an entire bag of these for sure!

Acerola Cherry Juice – Not a fan fave here, but one of my sons liked it a little.
