My fascination with the Little House on the Prairie series began when I started watching the original NBC show in the mid-to-late 70s. I quickly became a devoted fan, and I mean devoted. We couldn’t binge a series like we can now with the likes of Netflix; no, we had to wait a whole week for a new episode, and some weeks, it seemed like an eternity to see what happened.

My obsession with the TV series led me to seek out the books, starting with Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I vividly remember scouring Scholastic book fair catalogs for every title in the series and would sit for hours reading them. It didn’t stop with the books; I remember asking my mother for a bonnet like Laura and Mary’s, while that style wasn’t exactly popular in the 70s, it didn’t stop me from playing pretend and imagining I was Laura for hours on end.

Now with the new Netflix series “Little House on the Prairie” premiering next month on July 9, 2026, I’ve been thinking about the show a lot. It makes me miss my Mom; she and I would watch it together, mainly because she had a huge crush on Michael Landon, who played Charles Ingalls. I remember him crying a lot in that show, and my Mom would cry right along with him. I am excited to see how Luke Bracey plays Charles Ingalls, and will we get the tears as well? The rest of the cast includes Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls.

In my job as a curator of vintage items for Grove Family Finds, I thought it would be fun to go through some of the items I have sold in the past that would fit right in on the prairie and maybe some you could incorporate into your life now. The demand for antique farmhouse style is currently skyrocketing, and I bet Little House on the Prairie on Netflix will fuel it even more.

This vintage Marshall Texas Pottery stoneware mixing bowl, featuring a beautiful blue floral pattern, is the perfect kitchen essential. I can easily imagine Ma using it to whip up pancake or cake batter just as they would have back in the day. It is not only highly practical for daily use but also serves as a stunning display piece.

I fondly remember Ma in the original series mending clothing, blankets, and dolls. I’m certain we will see Caroline doing the same in the Netflix adaptation, as creating and maintaining household goods was essential in that era. For this reason, I thought this R. Miller Spools est. 1891 Mini Sewing Cabinet with Drawers would be the perfect way to organize her sewing notions.

As I mentioned before, the farmhouse look is still super popular because it feels so classic. I really wanted to add a bit of whimsy to the mix, and this adorable duck planter with a little bonnet is just perfect—it’s such a fun nod to Little House on the Prairie. Seriously, how cute is that bonnet?!

Last but not least, we need a doll, like the homemade ragdoll doll above. For Mary and Laura, these dolls were way more than just toys—they were constant companions that kept them feeling comforted and steady through their big move. Whether things were tough on the road or just part of their day-to-day, those dolls were always there for them. I am sure we will see a doll or two in the new Little House on the Prairie series when it premieres on Netflix on July 9th.
