Are You Guilty of Drive-By Tweeting?

Companies are joining social media networks left and right. Why? I’ll tell you…social media is the best way to communicate directly with consumers. Twitter and Facebook being the main social media platforms seeing this surge of companies signing up.

As a Mom, who uses MANY products on a day-to-day basis, I am excited by this new trend. I love seeing all of the new products, the coupons and all of the contests and giveaways. I also love being able to directly communicate with my favorite brands.

However, there are many companies who use social media who are what I like to refer to as “drive-by tweeter’s.” By this I am referring to the rapid posts of whatever deal, news or promotion is going on and then nothing – they shoot out the info and hope it hits one of their consumers. There is no interaction, no feedback, no nothing.

This bothers me a great deal because it just seems so one-sided. If I wanted to learn about products and be ignored then I would just watch commercials…BUT I have questions, comments and cute little quips to share and I even may have a nice little review here and there.

The definition of “social” is self-explanatory people, when you join a “social” network then you are expected to be, well, social…Remember, the people you are sending your tweets or your status updates to, are the people who are buying your products…tweet us back sometime, you might like us!
