I have an affinity for witches, all kind, good, bad, and the ugly. The first time I saw The Wizard Of Oz, I was mesmerized not by Glinda, The Good Witch, although she was beautiful, I was more interested in the Wicked Witch of The West played by Margaret Hamilton.
Margaret wasn’t the first pick to play the Wicked Witch, Gale Sondergaard was originally cast for the role, but she didn’t like how the character was portrayed aesthetically, she didn’t want to play a haggard witch. Then, just three days before filming started, they replaced her with Margaret Hamilton. Can you imagine being the actress that turned down such an iconic role?!
Once I saw the Wicked Witch of the West, I was hooked. I even dressed up as her for several Halloween’s, green paint, fake nose, and all!
Next month, I get to attend the red carpet premiere of Oz The Great and Powerful and will be in my witchy glory, because not only are there witches in the movie, there are three witches!!!
Aren’t they gorgeous? I can’t wait to see them in the movie and how they represent each witch. Take a peek at this trailer to see how fabulous this movie is going to be:
“Which Witch is Which?”
I am so in love with the witches that I based my gown on the Wicked Witch. I choose a black and green Maxi Dress and chose a clutch that at the time I thought complimented the gown to a tee. Now looking at the pictures of Rachel Weisz as Evanora, I think I subconsciously matched it to her costume.
Of course you can’t do an OZ movie without the Wicked Witches Flying Monkeys, and Disney has outdone themselves with them in this movie. Take a look……………
