I saw the product Silk Pure Almond milk and I have to say I was intrigued. Milk from Almonds?  I looked up how Silk Pure Almond Milk was made and was surprised to learn that they make it by roasting whole almonds and then ground them to produce creamy almond butter. Then water, natural sweetener, natural flavorings, vitamins and minerals are blended in to make the milk. Neat!

I know from my many diets that almonds are a great source of  vitamin E (a natural antioxidant), and a good source of protein and fiber. Plus, they’re naturally low in saturated fat and cholesterol-free. Sounds good to me!

I was excited to try the Vanilla Silk Almond milk, since I love everything vanilla.  There is also an original flavor  as well.  Since it is packed with natural antioxidants, and as much calcium and vitamin D as dairy milk I felt like this would be a great addition to my diet.  I also like the fact that it does not contain cholesterol, saturated fat or soy and the Vanilla was just 90 calories a glass (original is only 60 calories). Anything that helps my never-ending diet is good by me.

The flavor was really good, not too strong and just the right amount of vanilla. I used it in my coffee in place of creamer and it was really good. I am planning on buying the original flavor to try it in recipes and in cereal. I even had my picky six year old try it and he liked it (poor thing is my guinea pig now, lol).
