I’ve been collecting Disney Movies for years now, and each time one is released I get so excited, mainly because of the great combo packs that Disney releases. One of those great movies, Wreck-It Ralph releases today, 3/5. The Two-disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack is chock full of amazing features and extras, and even a 3D version.
I make it a point to have a family movie night at least once a week. I can always count on Disney to provide me with great movies that my family will love. Wreck-It Ralph is one of those movies for me. First, let me say that I am an 80’s gamer girl, I played Pac-Man with the rest of the kids of the day, so this movie already had me hooked with all of the cameo’s of my favorite 80’s characters. The even cooler thing, my kids also saw characters that they know and love like Sonic The Hedgehog and Bowser. We had fun trying to spot all of the characters, and believe me, you will too. Oh the memories of days at the arcade!
I even had the privilege to be part of the game, well sort of…. The wonderful people at Disney Animation Studios made me an 8-bit/Nicelander:
The movie itself is about Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly), who has been a video game villain for 30 years and now wants to change his ways because he is tired of feeling like an outcast. He decides to leave his game, Fit-It Felix Jr. and jump into a first person shooter game, Hero’s Duty, and then enters Vanellope von Schweetz (Voiced by (Sarah Silverman), who is a sarcastic but adorable little girl from the game Sugar Rush.
Ralph is in search of a medal to transform him into a good guy, but he learns to love himself regardless of his label, as does Vanellope. A great little learning moment for not only kids, but for adults as well.
Kids and adults will love this movie, for the video games references and visuals, which is done to perfection, to the characters and presentation of the movie. I saw how Wreck-It Ralph was made, and there was a lot of effort put into every single aspect of this movie. Video Game lovers will appreciate this for sure.
There is a reason this film was nominated for an Oscar 🙂
