When I was presented with the opportunity to review If i could keep you little.. by Marianne Richmond, I wasn’t sure if I should since I am not big on book reviews, mainly because who has time to read books these days, right? But, the title and the story behind the author just tugged at my heart and I thought I should give a book review a try.
Every day I look at my two boys, one is 12 and the other is 7, and I find myself thinking to myself, and sometimes telling them, to stop growing up and stay the way they are. That is why this book spoke to me when I read the title. I think all parents think this very same thing at some point and this book does a beautiful job at relaying these feelings.
“If I could keep you little, I’d keep you close to me.
But then I’d miss you growing into who you’re meant to be!”
This book just nails how I feel and how so many of us feel about our kids…… we want them to stay little in fear of letting them go as they get older but we know in our hearts that with each day they grow older, we are experiencing new stages in their lives. Marianne captures every Mom and Dads feelings with beautifully illustrated pages and very poignant words that will touch your heart.
I highly recommend this book for all parents everywhere…..read it to your children, share it with your friends who have children and then go hug your children tightly, you will want to after you read this wonderful book.
Please check out all of the wonderful books by Marianne Richmond, they would make great Christmas presents!
