I was able to view a screening of Hotel Transylvania: Transformania back in November and am excited that I can finally tell you my thoughts before it premieres on Prime Video on January 14th.

The fourth installment of the Hotel Transylvania franchise starts with Drac announcing his retirement from the hotel and him wanting to pass the torch to Mavis and Johnny. As you know, Johnny isn’t a monster, so Drac has some second thoughts about leaving his legacy to him.

Meanwhile, Van Helsing inadvertently turns Johnny into a monster with his Monsterification Ray and turns the actual monsters Frankenstein, Griffin, Murray, Wayne, and yes, even Drac into humans. That in itself was super fun to see. Just wait till you see them!

They then have to find the needed crystal for the Monsterification Ray to turn them all back to normal before they are permanently stuck. For Johnny, he needs it more than the rest since he has started transforming into a bigger and bigger monster with no feelings, just anger.

When all is said and done and Johnny is back to normal Drac finally bonds with his son-in-law and leaves the hotel to him and Mavis.

For me, this was the perfect ending to a wonderful franchise, one that ends it on a very happy note, everything we would want for this family.

About Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

Drac and the Pack are back, like you’ve never seen them before in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Reunite with your favorite monsters for an all-new adventure that presents Drac (Brian Hull) with his most terrifying task yet. When Van Helsing’s (Jim Gaffigan) mysterious invention, the ‘Monsterification Ray,’ goes haywire, Drac and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny (Andy Samberg) becomes a monster! In their new mismatched bodies, Drac, stripped of his powers, and an exuberant Johnny, loving life as a monster, must team up and race across the globe to find a cure before it’s too late, and before they drive each other crazy. With help from Mavis (Selena Gomez) and the hilariously human Drac Pack, the heat is on to find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent. The film also features the voices of Kathryn Hahn (Ericka), Steve Buscemi (Wayne), Molly Shannon (Wanda), David Spade (Griffin the Invisible Man), Keegan-Michael Key (Murray), Fran Drescher (Eunice), Brad Abrell (Frank), and Asher Blinkoff (Dennis).
