Did you know that Safeway now offers home delivery for your groceries?!?

I was recently contacted and given the opportunity to try out the home delivery from Vons, which is the parent company of Safeway. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we only have Safeway stores.

While on the site, I noticed that I can sign up for weekly e-mails that has savings that are good for only my area. You can also register your club card and load coupons directly onto your club card. That way you will not have to deal with the mess and fuss of printing them out.

When you first enter the grocery delivery site, you will need to enter your zip code; not only to be sure that delivery is available in you area, but so you can also qualify for online only specials.

The site was very easy to navigate while shopping. On the left hand side there is a list of each aisle so you can just click on an “aisle” and shop by each aisle or section of the store. Once you click on an aisle, it is broken down into even more categories so you can pinpoint exactly what you are looking for. There is also a search feature so you can type in the exact item you are looking and it will find it for you.

Once you start adding items to your cart, it will show you at the top of the page how many items you currently have in your cart as well as the total price of all the items in your shopping cart.

When you are finished shopping, you can view your cart where you may add or remove items. Once I was ready to checkout, I could schedule my delivery based upon their delivery schedule so I was able to be sure I was home. I found the process online very simple and easy to navigate.

I selected the 2 hour delivery window of 10am-12pm. My order arrived at 10:17am. All items were bagged nicely and just as they would have been in the store. I did have one substitution made on my list. I had ordered one particular flavor of croutons and they were not available so they substituted with a different flavor, but it was still the same brand. I was given a receipt of my items so I was able to check everything as I unloaded it. Everything was there and accounted for and all refrigerated items were still very cold.

A few things to note: be sure to check the size of the items you are buying. I forgot to check the size of a couple of things and when they arrived they were smaller then I thought they would be. While they did have some great online savings and deals, as an avid couponer, I would have to say that I definitely paid a lot more for some items then I normally would, plus you cannot use coupons on your home delivery order.

Overall I was quite impressed with the experience. It was very user friendly and easy to use and the order was on the earlier end of the time promised. While the prices were higher then I would normally pay, the convenience of having the groceries delivered rather then trekking myself and the kids to the store was nice.

Now is the exciting part for my readers! Vons/Safeway has kindly offered a special promo code for FREE delivery and $7.00 off your very first delivery order! Just be sure to use promo code: freesample during your checkout.

*Vons/Safeway provided me with 2 $100 gift cards in order to do this review.*

This post was brought to you from Missy over at Are you there God? It’s Me. I am a stay-at-home mom to a 6 year old, 4 year old and 1 year old. I discuss everything from religion to parenting to recipes to autism to coupons and saving money and anything else I can think of in between.
