Hello, my name is Di and I am a coffee addict, so is my husband 🙂

Now that I have gotten my confession out of the way, I can tell you about the fabulous coffee from Equal Exchange that we had the pleasure of trying.

First a little about this great company: Equal Exchange has created Big Change since 1986. Our founders envisioned a food system that empowers farmers and consumers, supports small farmer co-ops, and uses sustainable farming methods. They started with fairly traded coffee from Nicaragua and didn’t look back. Today, we continue to find new and powerful ways to build a better food system. We partner with co-operatives of farmers who provide high-quality organic coffeesteaschocolatesbananas and snacks from all over the world.

The first coffee we tried was the Organic French Roast:

Aroma: smoky, vanilla, almond butter

Flavor: balanced, sweet, dark chocolate, smoky, caramelized sugar

Mouthfeel: weighty and thick

Acidity: delicate

Aftertaste: prolonged, bittersweet chocolate
We both like French Roast, and this one did not disappoint. It was smooth and flavorful and didn’t leave a bitter aftertaste on the tongue like some coffee’s do.
The next coffee we tried was the Organic Mind, Body & Soul Coffee:
Aroma: butterscotch, vanilla custard, pecans, milk chocolate

Flavor: balanced, cocoa, caramelized sugar, malt

Mouthfeel: weighty and thick

Acidity: light sparkle

Aftertaste: dark chocolate, walnut, brown sugar

The name intrigued us, as did the “chocolate notes” in the description, so I was definitely looking forward to this one. It definitely had the chocolate notes and out of the two of the coffee’s we tried, I prefer this one. Hubby likes the French Roast better, but we both agree that they were both delicious.
