Downton Abbey is now on Blu-ray and DVD today, December 17, 2019.
Based on Carnival Films’ Emmy® award-winning television series, the feature DOWNTON ABBEY sees the original cast return, alongside a host of newcomers. Review
As a long-time Downton Abbey fan, I was looking forward to seeing this film as soon as I heard about it. I wanted to visit with the Crawley family again as well as with the family of servants that I became to close to throughout the shows brief run. I have always wondered why such a great show had ended, and although I probably won’t ever know, I was super happy to get to see them at least one more time and let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
All of the Crawley family goodness is in this film. I heard mixed reviews that some people found it lacking in storylines but I thought it was just perfect. It was like watching a Downton Abbey special, so if you are a fan, you will be on board. The family and the servants give 100 percent and will leave you satisfied with leaving them once again.
The movie surrounds the visit from the King and Queen, so you can imagine there are lots of storylines happening around this momentous event, lots of whispering and meetings between everyone, and of course some drama. You will be transported right back to the original series and I for one was happy to be taken back in time once again. If anything, you will drool over the gorgeous period costumes and decor like you did in the original series.
If you are a diehard Downton fan I say be sure to see this, you will be happy seeing your old friends once again.
