This Holiday season, more than ever, we need to think about the items we are purchasing. That one little decision can end up making BIG changes. Tetra Pak wants to help people with those small changes by creating packaging that is environmentally friendly, and perfect for your Holiday recipes.

How can you make changes that could impact the world that we live in? Become Carton Smart by purchasing items that are green, and can be recycled. You may not be aware of the different types of food packaging that is available to you. For instance, Tetra Pak® cartons are made of 70% paper, a renewable resource, from selectively harvested, re-grown trees that are FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council).

Did you know that cartons use 1/3 of the packaging compared to cans, and even an egg? Not only are cartons better in the long run, they also help to save space in your kitchen pantry. Stack them, lay them flat, put them in rows, you will be amazed at how much extra space you have.

The best part of cartons, they preserve the flavor and nutrients of your favorite food without using preservatives, so your food will taste better, and is better for you and your family. Plus, cartons are re-closable, so you don't have to worry about having to store the leftovers in plastic containers.

I received the following products;

This year, I am going to be trying out some new holiday desserts. One new dessert is Pumpkin Chocolate Truffles using Organic Pumpkin Puree from Pacific Foods. The ingredients in the carton? Organic Pumpkin, that's it, so I know that my creation with be healthy and delicious.

Do you use stock in any of your recipes? I use chicken stock to make my gluten-free stuffing, so I will be using Pacific Foods Organic Chicken Broth to kick up my recipe. You can purchase low sodium or unsalted to make it even better.

Gluten Free Stuffing

  • 1 package of Gluten-Free Stuffing Mix
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 1 large carrot diced
  • 1 rib of celery diced
  • 6 tablesoons of butter
  • 2 cups of Pacific Foods Oraganic Chick Stock

Heat oven to 375. In a large skillet melt butter, add onions, celery, and carrots and saute until tender. Add stock, bring to a boil then remove pan from heat. Place stuffing mix in a large bowl, pour mixture, then toss lightly to combine. Add to caserole dish, cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

 Another Holiday dish I always have is cranberry sauce, truth be told, I don't care for it but I have several family members who love it. I always felt strange serving it from a can, since it just looked odd, so I am happy to be trying it this year thanks to Pacific Foods Organic Jellied Cranberry Sauce.  I have a feeling they are going to love it!
