As a form of entertainment, mobile gaming’s evolution has been impossible to ignore. Nowadays, people are accessing these portable gaming products with ease and now have some seriously solid games to get through, be it on an iOS device or an Android phone.

In the past, gaming on a modern-day smartphone had its limitations. Some of the games were frankly horrible, the controls haven’t always been perfect, and there weren’t too many worthwhile products to actually sample. In today’s world, though, mobile gaming’s package has been dramatically enhanced. Gamers can sample PC and PlayStation games that have jumped over to mobile, there are some great virtual reality products, browser games, augmented reality releases, and loads more. In fact, there is something for everyone on a modern phone.

One notable issue with mobile gaming, though, is the sheer amount of titles gamers have to sift through to find the ideal releases for them. It can become incredibly tiresome. Don’t worry, though; we’ve done the hard part for you. With that in mind, let’s take a brief look at a selection of top mobile titles from a variety of different genres in 2023.

Console Games are Well Worth Playing

As we’ve already touched on, console games have well and truly started to shine on smartphone devices, particularly if gamers manage to add any accessories to enhance the gaming experience on offer. There are so many top titles to get through, too. From Bad North: Jotunn Edition and Dead Cells, to PUBG Mobile and Slay the Spire. The graphics are clean, the gameplay has improved massively, and there are memorable escapades to be had. Other console games worth exploring include League of Legends: Wild Rift, Minecraft – Pocket Edition, Brawlhalla, The Wolf Among Us, and Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night.

Puzzle Releases Have Always Been in Demand

If you aren’t interested in console-quality games and prefer more casual gaming packages on your smartphone, then puzzle releases are a fantastic option. There are so many challenging yet calming puzzle releases to get through, too. Right now, the leading options include Monument Valley 2, a glorious puzzle with eye-catching colors and a selection of optical illusions. Mini Metro is also a go-to product for many, especially people with a passion for trains. Other great puzzle releases include Candy Crush Soda Saga, Bridge Constructor Portal, The Unfinished Swan, and Maze Machina.

If searching through the App Store and Google Play isn’t your bag, then browser games are the perfect solution. Likewise, if you don’t want to fill your phone up with downloaded apps, then they’re also a solid option. In-browser titles like Space Wars are particularly thriving right now. Offering stunning graphics and plenty of entertainment, this alien/outer space-themed masterpiece is filled with extra-terrestrials as gamers embark on a journey through space while listening to the title’s synthesized soundtrack. RuneScape is a classic that is also shining in the modern environment thanks to a number of updates that have kept it fresh. A classic MMORPG, there is plenty to do in this one, from battling against a plethora of enemies to completing an array of challenging quests. Other solid browser games include Hero Wars, Raid: Shadow Legends, Catan Universe, and Forge of Empires.

VR Games Deserve a Mention

Although virtual reality gaming is in its relative infancy, particularly on mobile, there are still some enticing gaming opportunities to sample.
