You might think that Nicole Kidman’s days of profitability are mainly in the past. However, thanks to streamers like Netflix, that’s not the case. Indeed, Kidman was paid a fortune to appear in Prom on Netflix which is impressive considering that she had a relatively small role in the movie. The actress also earned big bucks after appearing in The Undoing and the talk of the town is that she’s amid a full-blown comeback that could see her appear in some big blockbusters in the not too distant future.
Emily Blunt
Emily Blunt has been on the rise for a few years now. A couple of years back she appeared as the star in the new Mary Poppins and since then she’s been going from win to win. Blunt recently spoke about how she missed out on the role of Black Widow but rumor has it that Marvel has her firmly in mind for another part in one of their upcoming movies. It will be interesting to see if that comes to fruition.
For now, the actress is going to take the lead in A Quiet Place Part II, a movie directed by her husband. She’s also headlining Jungle Cruise for Disney so it’s no surprise she’s earning a fortune this year.
Meryl Streep
Streep is the second star on this list to be paid a lot of money after appearing in Prom. She is also an Oscar darling and always at the top of the list when movie directors pitch a hit that is aiming for Oscar glory. She also appeared in films like Little Women and an HBO comedy Let Them Talk. It’s interesting to note that she’s earning most of her money for side roles in movies and TV shows however she’s still earning an absolute fortune. There’s no reason to believe that Streep won’t still be somewhere near the top of this list five years from now.
Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy started life as a female stand up comedian before moving into the acting world. She appeared as popular character Suki in Gilmore Girls and then had her own hit show on CBS. It was only after appearing in Bridesmaids did McCarthy start gaining serious attention in Hollywood and quickly became a leading star in part due to her producer husband. Recently, McCarthy has hit a little bit of a creative slump but she’s still raking in the cash. She’s also due to appear as the villain in Disney’s live-action version of The Little Mermaid.
Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot has multiple films lined up this year. Her recent outing as Wonder Woman didn’t hit box office expectations and was mainly shown on HBO Max where it failed to add that many subscribers for the service. Regardless, Gadot is another actress that has gained the attention of Netflix and will appear in Red Notice with Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson.
She’s due to star in a new version of Cleopatra too and she might also do a third Wonder Woman movie. Towards the end of this year, she’s also taking a starring role in Death on The Nile.
Angelina Jolie
Is Angelina heading for a comeback? She’s struggled to get starring roles recently but has gone down the route of a bankable older, action star. She recently appeared in Those Who Wish Me Dead, portraying a wild and heroic member of a fire rescue team. She has also been snapped up by Marvel to play one of their new superheroes and rumor has it that this is a multi-picture deal. As such, just like some other actors in recent years, it looks like Jolie is back in action and it’s no surprise she’s near the top of this list.
Sofia Vergara
Supposedly, Sofia Vergara is the highest-paid actress right now, making as much as $43 million in 2020 alone. It’s believed that this is due to endorsement deals as well as her time on America’s Got Talent, providing that you don’t have to be on the silver screen to earn a fortune.
