15% of the U.S. population moves each year …… Wow!
This infographic has me thinking, not only because hubby and I would like to move within the next 6 months, but at how many times I have moved over the years.
When I was 20, I moved to DC into an apartment with a friend, then when she moved out I moved into a friend’s place until I could find something else. I found an apartment that I could afford on my own and moved in there for a few years. Over the next few years I moved 4 more times until we finally bought our home. I moved 7 times! I never thought about it, but that’s a lot of moves to go through, not to mention all of the expenses I incurred doing so.
Right now, we are looking to move about an hour away. We have been looking at homes on Trulia, which if you are in the market for a new home, is an awesome site to start with. They even have a mobile app you can download for free to get all of the latest updates on new home listings, open houses, price changes, and more. I could spend hours on that site.
I also use Zillow to search for homes, they also have a great app that I can use while on the go. My husband and I love to just drive out the area we are interested in, and this app helps us to find homes that are currently listed.
When we do find our dream home, then we need to think about the actual moving part of the whole process. This is where moving companies will come in to play.
All of those moves in the past……..we did everything, and boy what an exhausting pain that was. This time we will hire someone like 1-800-Pack-Rat. We still have to pack, but we won’t have to worry about moving the actual stuff. They send you a PACK-RAT container, you pack it with your items, lock it up and they move it for you, then it’s at your location when you get there. Sounds good to me.
