Growing up impoverished in small-town Texas, young Rickey Hill shows an extraordinary ability to hit a baseball, despite being burdened by leg braces from a degenerative spinal disease.  His concerned pastor father (DENNIS QUAID) discourages Rickey from playing baseball to protect him from injury, and to have him follow in his footsteps and become a preacher.

As a young man, Rickey (COLIN FORD) becomes a baseball phenomenon.  His desire to participate in a try-out for a legendary major league scout divides the family and threatens Rickey’s dream of playing professional baseball.

  1. Good question, I am not sure if I had a goal for the future. However, everything seems to be working out for me. All goals being met and achievable.

  2. My childhood dream was to be a garbage man. I’m an MRI Tech now, so I think I did better.

  3. My childhood dream was to be a nurse but I realized that I didn’t have the stomach for it.

  4. As a child, I always thought I wanted to be a teacher. I didn’t end up doing that though!

  5. Preteen I wanted to be a lawyer (didn’t happen) Teen years I wanted to be a filmmaker. I did work in the the theater and film industry for a short while and did make a short film.

  6. No dreams in particular. Is there a way to shut off these pop-up videos? They’re hard to close & interfere with everything. 🙁

  7. Since the age of four Ive been reading and collecting comics, it was something me and my dad did together. Well as a teenager and into my twenties I worked in a comic book and collectables shop. So I took what I loved and made it cooler by hanging out in a shop 8 hours a day talking to other people who enjoyed the same things I did.
