The first series of the Amazon original The Boys aired in July of 29, and to much acclaim. We’ve recently seen a wave of anti-hero styled movies and shows, and The Boys added to that list in a great way with a somewhat satire but still very serious and entertaining series – it was recently announced that season 2 would premiere on September 4th of this year, so what can fans expect?
The cast – What we know is that the majority of the cast is likely to remain mostly the same – it has already been confirmed that the likes of Karl Urban as Billy Butcher and Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell will return, we’ve also seen the release trailers showing both Homelander, and Queen Maeve so we know they’ll both be returning. We’ve also been made aware of some special guests this season as names like comedian Patton Oswalt will be making a guest appearance at some point during season 2.
Release schedule – The big difference for season 2 will be with the release schedule – season one saw all eight episodes launch on the same day so fans could binge-watch the entire season in one day. Season 2 will be different here, the first three episodes will launch on the premier date but then episodes will release once per week until 9th October in which the last episode will be released – it’s a bit of a different approach to what has been seen most recently as many seasons on streaming platforms lately fully release, but it does give fans something to look forward to.
The plot – A bit of a spoiler warning for the end of season one for those who haven’t watched it yet, but the end of the first season found Billy Butcher reunited with his missing wife who had been raising Homelanders child and so the plot will have to pick up from this point too – from the released trailers we’ve been shown that the Vought International association who manages the superheroes is still very much active, as well as one of the heroes in Black Noir off fighting the villains that had been created. The majority of the plot is yet unknown, but if the first season is anything to go by it’s bound to be good.
There’s still a little time to wait, but plenty of things to do to keep us going until then – for many it’s time to get back to work and for others there’s still going to be a bit of time waiting and playing our favorite mobile games like these ones here, it is exciting to know that season 2 is so close however and that the wait isn’t much longer – it will be interesting to see if a season 3 is confirmed before the air date as the second season was, and given that there’s so much interest it’s not too far fetched to believe that could also be a possibility.
