It is the most wonderful and magical time of the year! While it is a time for giving gifts, it is also time to kick back and relax with the family and watch a few Christmas classics. What are some of the best Christmas movies out there that everybody needs to watch to get into the holiday spirit?
Worried about the snow removal responsibilities piling up? Sit down with the family and watch this! While it is not a Christmas movie per se and is no doubt one that’s constantly being watched by the kids the entire year, watching Frozen at Christmas time feels more Christmassy. “Yoohoo! Big summer blowout!”
Santa Claus: The Movie 1985
One for the parents who grew up in the 80s. Santa Claus: The Movie is, unbelievably, a movie that was universally panned when it came out, but has grown in stature to become one of the firm favorites of families during Christmas. The story of how Santa came to be as well as Dudley Moore as an elf gets sucked in by an evil toy manufacturer, courtesy of John Lithgow’s villainous turn as BZ, Santa Claus: The Movie is one that has to be on your Christmas list this year!
“You sit on a throne of lies!” What hasn’t already been said about this Christmas classic? But there are still some people who haven’t seen it properly! Probably because this is quite new in the grand scheme of classic Christmas movies, but if you are looking for something that pleases grown-ups and children alike this is the most ideal option. After all the kids can’t watch Die Hard yet! And we can forget that this was Will Ferrell’s breakout role! But for all of the silliness of this movie, its heart is a pure Christmas cracker. It is the perfect movie if you want to relax, have a hot chocolate, and laugh yourself into the Christmas season!
It’s a Wonderful Life
The original Christmas classic, It’s a Wonderful Life is one of those movies that your kids may roll their eyes at, purely because it is in black-and-white. But it has been remastered in color. However, as far as Christmas movies are concerned it is one that can be pretty depressing for the vast majority of its running time until the very end. It is a movie that is full of Christmas cheer but only during the last 10-minutes. But it is totally worth it! And there are some wonderfully silly moments too!
Christmas is a magical time and you need to find some magical movies. Whether you and your hubby are relaxing after the kids have gone to bed or you are looking for some proper family festive favorites, there’s something for everyone. These for our perfect family options. But of course, if you and your hubby want something a bit more grown-up, but still full of the Christmas spirit, might we recommend Bad Santa? It is laugh out loud hilarious, and quite rude in parts, but it has Christmas spirit written all over it. We promise!
