The Addams Family 2 is here and is taking us on a spooky family vacation!
If you were a fan of the first Addams Family animated movie, you will be a fan of this one as well. Visually we get that amazing animation that we grew to love in the first one, as well as the quirky characters we all know and love.

In this all new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, IT, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?
I’ll tell you what could go wrong, all the things and then some! Seriously, it wouldn’t be the Addams Family without some kind of snafu’s happening and this is why we love them. We love to see Morticia and Gomez dote on their children, and we love how Wednesday tortures Pugsley, which she does a lot of in this film.

Speaking of Wednesday ( Chloë Grace Moretz), after she competes in the science fair with her entry of transferring personality traits between creatures, in this case between her pet octopus and Uncle Fester ( Nick Kroll), she learns there are no winners at the Science Fair although she is clearly the winner. They exclaim, “Just trying makes you a winner.” This doesn’t sit well with her as you can imagine. The sponsor of the fair, Cyrus Strange (Bill Hader), see’s something special in Wednesday and invites her to work with him to make her invention even better. She declines.
She then goes all super angsty teenager who doesn’t want to hang with the family, especially her parents. Because of this, Gomez decides to take the family on vacation so they can bond. An unexpected visitor shows up right before they leave and drops a bomb about Wednesday and they spend most of the trip trying to avoid the news.

When Wednesday finds out what the man wanted, and what it could mean for her, she has an emotional crisis that could change the family dynamic forever. The whole movie is centered around this bit of news. The Addams adventure across the country takes them to all kinds of landmarks where of course, they stick out a little. My only issuse with this sequence is the blatant brand placement of a particular company, which you will definitely see for yourself.

While the Addams are trying to bond, Grandma, (Bette Midler) is back at home house sitting by throwing a huge party/festival where she is charging people to get in. This is where we are treated to a musical number by Cousin It (Snoop Dog).
Speaking of music, the soundtrack is full of artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Maluma, and Rock Mafia.
Once the truth has been revealed, and we have a little fight scene, we get the ending we knew we would and it’s satisfying.
Overall I really enjoyed The Addams Family 2, the story was great, seeing the animation again was awesome and the music was fun. It’s a great movie for all ages. You can watch The Addams Family today in theaters and on-demand.
