Sonos One with Amazon Alexa allows you to start, stop and control the music you listen to. Not only that, you can check the weather, get news updates, and manage other smart devices you have in your home. It can link up to multiple different streaming music systems, such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Sirius XM, Apple Music, internet radio and hundreds of other streaming services.
The speaker is pretty compact for the amount of booming bass it puts out. Seriously, BOOMING bass. It has a power cord and a network cable and you can connect it to other Sonos Home Stereo systems to play music in any room of your house.
Setting up the Sonos One is pretty easy, too. You’ll need the Sonos app and the Amazon Alexa App from Amazon. Sonos can be set up using Wi-Fi or a direct connection to your router. You can also link multiple Sonos Ones together to get stereo. During the set up you will be asked to create a Sonos account, log into your Amazon account and then to link any music services you may have. We connected Spotify, Amazon Music Unlimited, and Sirius FM.
The Sonos One, with Amazon Alexa, gives you the convenience of Amazon Alexa with the added bonus ability to play your favorite music from anywhere in the house. The more you use the Sonos One the more it adjusts to your tastes and musical likes. It’s your personal DJ. It will also let anyone in the house call out their musical choices, no matter who says it, Sonos will play the request. Think of the fun it would be at parties, your guests can call out the music they want to hear and you don’t have to worry about the setlist.
All in all, Sonos One speaker is a great hands-free operation, and movable around the house if needed. If you purchase more than one speaker, you have the ability to name each speaker so when you ask Alexa to play a song, you can say “play Joy Division in the Kitchen” and it will play in the kitchen. If you want it to play on another speaker in another location, you just tell it to play on that speaker.
The Sonos One is compact in size so it will fit almost anywhere and it comes in either all-black or all-white color with a smooth matte finish to fit with any decor. Also, since Sonos and Amazon Alexa are always updating with new features and skills, your music and voice options will both keep getting better and better over time.
