Lucasfilm’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” directed by Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Ron Howard—the creator of unforgettable films, such as “A Beautiful Mind,” “Apollo 13,” “Parenthood” and “Splash”—is an action-packed journey that explores Han’s first encounters with future friend and copilot Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and notorious gambler Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). The film takes viewers on a ride showing Han’s adventure-filled past alongside fellow street thief Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) and career criminal Beckett (Woody Harrelson). “Solo: A Star Wars Story” bonus material takes fans behind the scenes with the star-studded cast and screenwriters Jonathan Kasdan & Lawrence Kasdan (writer of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi). Special features include a revealing feature on Chewie and his enduring friendship with Han; a close-up look at the original version of the Millennium Falcon and Han’s first time piloting the infamous ship; the creation of the film’s otherworldly settings and pulse-pounding action sequences; and eight never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes.

Review by Mr. Ranere:
One of the most iconic movie characters ever created is, without a doubt, Han Solo. He’s a soldier, pirate, smuggler, mercenary, hero, scoundrel and a scruffy nerfherder. Despite all this, he was always one thing above all others; the good guy. Solo: A Star Wars Story takes place in the time before the events of A New Hope and gives us a glimpse into how he became who he became. We find out how he met Chewbacca, Lando and the Millennium Falcon. I enjoyed the many moments of fan service, and there was a lot of it, almost too much. The story was pretty good, a little predictable at points but, all in all, a fun movie.
The Blu-Ray comes with a bunch of really nice extra features. My favorite was Lando’s Tour Of The Millennium Falcon in Remaking The Millennium Falcon. That was very nostalgic for me, I saw Episode 4 when it came out originally before all the CGI nonsense added to it. Seeing the little touches added to the ship was nice. The extra deleted scenes rounded out some of the movie a little more helped clarify a few things which is always nice.
Other features include the Making L3-37, Lando’s droid co-pilot, a cast roundtable with the director and Team Chewie! The making of a younger Chewbacca and how they brought him to life. Chewie is really active and in a lot of the move, which was great. Even got to hear Han speak Wookie.
I enjoyed this addition to the SW Universe and the added features made it even better.
