Rugrats premiered Sunday, August 11, 1991. 1991! I remember it fondly, although I was an adult and didn’t have children at that time, I did have small nephews and eventually a niece who would watch the show all the time.
The show centered around a group of toddlers: Tommy, Chuckie, twins Phil and Lil, and Angelica. It mainly focused on their interaction with one another in normal everyday situations and then sometimes on their imaginations. One thing I never understood was the absence of the parents in the show, you barely ever saw them and they seemed oblivious to what the “babies” were doing most days.

Years after the premiere, I would have my own children and they too would latch on the Rugrats and become familiar with all of the characters each forming their own favorite (mine was Tommy Pickles).
