Melvin the Magnificent Molar is the first of several children’s books by Dr. Laura Jana & Julia Cook and illustrated by Allison Valentine. Melvin is a cute and lovable Molar who teaches children about the importance of brushing their teeth.

Having the chance to review this wonderful book couldn’t have come at a better time. My youngest just recently started having loose teeth so we have been talking a lot about tooth care and what happens when teeth fall out, why we go to the dentist, etc. Actually, the very same day we read all about Melvin, he lost his loose front tooth (with the help of his older brother’s elbow, I might add, lol).

We used the book as part of our homeschooling curriculum, so as we read the book together it gave us the opportunity to open up discussion about dental hygiene and why it it so important.

The information in the book is not only presented in a fun way that will engage children, it sparks curiosity and the illustrations are beautiful.

If you have a child you is just starting to brush their teeth, losing teeth or has been brushing for awhile, Melvin the Magnificent Molar is a great book to add to your collection. You can preview the book on Julia’s site and also purchase it as well. It retails for $9.95.
