Recently I posted about a new service called Pleygo, – A Netflix-Like Rental Service for Lego Sets. I signed up in order to review this service so you could see exactly how it works.

The first thing you want to do is pick the plan, then add some of the Lego sets to your wish list, then wait for the package to arrive.  I placed my order and within four days my Lego set was at my front door!

So you get a package via USPS that contains the instructions, a booklet, a baggie of Legos and a return label.  Be sure to open the package carefully, you will be using the same package to return the Legos in.

The Lego set that picked had a lot of tiny pieces, so be sure to pick the right play-sets for your child. They offer all kinds to fit any age. Even though my son is 9, I still thought the pieces were very small and would eventually get lost.  The good news…..Pleygo understands that pieces can get lost during play. The plans include a guarantee so that you will not be charged if normal loss occurs.

when your child is done playing with the set, just package it back up, place the pre-printed return label on the package and send it back. Once it is received, you will get the next item on your wish list.

If your child really loves a set, you can easily purchase it from your My Account page. You will be charged the retail price of the set and will get the next set in your queue.

I think this is a neat service,  and kids will love it. Just be sure to maybe play with your child so the pieces don’t get lost. 😉

I have been seeing a lot of ads on Facebook for this. Do they at least offer a discount if you want to keep a set? I know they probably clean the sets in-between sending them out to people, but it seems like they should give a discounted rate since the set has been opened and played with already. Netflix and other movie rental services do (for the same reason).

Will keep holding our for now since it seems they haven’t figured out the right business model.
