As you settle in to relax, you may find yourself looking for something to watch. Thanks to the writers’ strike, you may find that many of your favorite shows are not being shown. And due to it being summer, many of your other favorites may be showing re-runs. This is the perfect time to sit down and catch up on movies, such as “The Beanie Bubble.” This movie is based on a book called The Great Beanie Baby Bubble, written by Zac Bissonnette, a New York Times bestselling author. The movie stars, Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Snook, Geraldine Viswanathan, Sweta Keswani, Kurt Jaegar, and Ajay Friese. Here are the various storylines that take place throughout this movie.

The End Credits

As the movie comes to an end and the end credits start to roll, you may be tempted to shut the movie off then. However, you should actually stay and listen to the music – especially the song “This,” by beloved band OK Go (remember the treadmill music video?). Their latest single is this song, which was written specifically to be included in this movie. It was written and recorded one week before the film went into the final production stage, believe it or not! It plays only during the credits.

Why This Is Exciting

It’s exciting for any musician to have their music featured during a movie. But, in this particular case, it’s even more exciting than normal. OK Go’s lead singer and guitarist is Damian Kulash. Damian Kulash not only helped to create a song for the movie, but he also co-directed the film. The other individual who helped to co-direct the film is Kristin Gore. Kristin Gore is married to Damian Kulash. This makes this project near and dear to both of their hearts, as they both had a vested interest in making the movie and the music successful.

What Was the Inspiration For the Single “This?”

Damian Kulash has spoken out about what the inspiration for the single was and how it came to be. He stated there was a line in the movie that inspired him. This line was “We close to unbelievably joyful music.” Mr. Kulash took this to heart and wanted to close out the film with exuberant guitars and horns. He also stated that there was another purpose to this song. During the “The Beanie Bubble” movie, you hear many songs from the 1990s and early 2000s. But, as the movie ends, Damian Kulash wanted to transport viewers back to real-time with a new song that they hadn’t yet heard. The song was designed to be empowering, while also having a few melancholy chords to it, much like the movie itself.

While “The Beanie Bubble” is loosely based around the Beanie Baby craze, its founder, and the women who inspired and helped him start the Ty company, it isn’t a true story. The opening line for the movie very clearly states, “There are parts of the truth you just can’t make up. The rest we did.” However, while not all of it is true, much of it does revolve around the huge craze surrounding Beanie Babies in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and the story of how these small stuffed animals came to be. This makes it a fascinating movie, which is even more fascinating thanks to the eccentric and funny creator, Ty Warner, played by Zach Galifianakis. If you’re looking for something new to watch, this is a great movie for people of all ages, as there is a part of the story that almost everyone can relate to. Once the movie has come to an end, stick around and listen to the new single, “This,” from the band OK Go.
