Disclosure: I have received information and products to facilitate this review. No other form of financial compensation was given and the opinions stated are my own.
I was sent Microsoft Streets & Trips 2013 to review. Streets & Trips 2013 is designed to help road-trippers plan the perfect trip from start to finish. As a family that loves to take day trips, this is the perfect software for us, as it generate maps and directions, with customizable start and stop times, and there is even a way to add notes about the place you are traveling too. All of this is possible without an Internet connection.
The software comes with everything you need to get started planning your trip. If you need help, you can access the help feature to guide you through.
This version includes over 2.5 million points of interest with online ratings and reviews, and 150,000 new miles of roads in North America. This way, before planning your trip you can see what others have reviewed. It also contains a fuel manager that helps you budget gasoline costs, I love this feature!
One of the best features, you can share your planned trip with your GPS device for perfect navigation. Turn your laptop into a navigation device or connect your GPS receiver to your laptop to get spoken directions, including street names, automatic rerouting, and large on-screen directions.
You can also plan for any delays along your route, there are free construction updates that you can download in order to bypass those delays. I know this will save us a ton of time since we always seem to hit construction on our trips.
Imagine the time you will save and how awesome your trip will be with the scenic route feature.
We will be taking some family day trips to a few places this fall and will definitely be using Microsoft Streets & Trips 2013.

The best day trip we ever went on was to Yosemite. It is about 4 hours from where we live. We had a picnic, did some hiking and had a grea time!
Once I drove to Philadelphia by myself. It was a 5 hour trip and I have never gone so far on my own. It was fun and exciting!
