Now that the weather has finally gotten warmer, we are ready to open the pool for some fun in the sun!

We purchased our pool last year and it is a much larger pool than our previous one. A larger pool means more pool maintenance, so we turned to HTH® Pool Supplies. They have a full line of products that are made to maintain and extend the life of your pool.

The first step is checking what was under the cover, and that usually means some gunk floating around, so a good cleaning was in order. We vacuumed thoroughly before filling the pool up to its normal level then turned on the filter. As you can see, the water looks perfect but looks can be deceiving.

We purchased HTH® Multi-Purpose 6 Way TestStrips™ at our local Walmart to see just how balanced our pool water really was.  These tests are the easiest way to test for free available chlorine (FAC) or bromine, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness and cyanuric acid (CYA). They are really easy to use and all you do is place the stip into the water for a few seconds, pull it back out and you’re done! The test strips will work with chlorine, bromine and saltwater pools.

Once you are done you can compare the strip to the color chart on the back of the container OR better yet, you can simply text a picture of your results to 484123 (HTH123) and they will text you back with the right products and instructions for your conditions!

Our results showed that we needed to use the HTH® Pre-Measured, Water Soluble Pods™ pH Up that will allow your sanitizer to work more effectively which can help to reduce equipment corrosion, eye irritation, and skin dryness. HTH® Pre-Measured Water Soluble Pods™ Alkalinity Up that raise the alkalinity in your pool to an ideal range between 60 and 120 parts per million (ppm). Maintaining proper pH levels allows your sanitizer to work more effectively, which can reduce equipment corrosion, cloudy water, scaling and skin dryness and HTH® Pre-Measured, Water Soluble Pods™ Stabilizer for defense against the sun.

The pods come in resealable bags and are measured out so you always get the correct dosage, you just open the bag and toss in the amount suggested. Be sure you are wearing safety glasses and gloves when you handle the pods and to look for any settlement of the product on the bottom of the pool. If this is the case, you will need to move it around to get it to disperse properly. As always, it is very important that you read the directions fully and always follow the safety guidelines provided.

HTH has a full-line of pool products including HTH®Pre-measured Water Soluble Pods Shock! and HTH® Pre-measured Water Soluble Pods Algae Guard plus many more.

See how we used the suggested products in our pool.

Head to your local Walmart to see the entire line and Get Into The Water Faster this Summer!
