Hocus Pocus fans, Disney has announced that Adam Shankman, the director of such films as The Wedding Planner, A Walk to Remember and Hairspray, will direct the upcoming movie sequel for Disney+.
First of all, this is a sequel, NOT a reboot, so that in itself makes me tremendously happy, however, I can’t say that I am 100% on board. Having seen a lot of sequels in my almost 50 years, some good and most horrible, I am trepidatious that this will do our beloved characters justice. BUT I also can’t wait to see if Max, Dani and Allison return to once again confront the Sanderson sisters, Winifred, Sarah, and Mary!
Shankman wrote on Instagram, confirming the news “Yep…. Thanks with all of my heart dear @disney Looks like Il be working on a looooooottttt of magic for awhile… I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be guiding forward these two Disney crown jewel legacies. My only hope is to honor those who came before me and build something new and exciting, as I desperately try to not let down the fans and enchant the new initiates! Fingers crossed! Xo”
