Fun Facts You Didn’t Know About Charmed Cast

Comments Off on Fun Facts You Didn’t Know About Charmed Cast

Charmed was charming enough to keep viewers glued for the eight seasons it ran from 1998 to 2006. However, the original creators, who included Brad Kern the showrunner, didn’t intend to have a storyline with three powerful witches who happened to be sisters. Instead, they intended for the plotline to have three sisters who happen to have inherited Wiccan magic.

Although there were some changes in the cast when Shannen Doherty, who played Prue, left the show, the cast maintained a charming onscreen chemistry. It’s no wonder Charmed was nominated for multiple awards, including the TV Guide Award. Here are five fun facts to find out about the Charmed cast.

The Original Phoebe Halliwell Wasn’t Alyssa Milano

According to Bustle, the character ‘Phoebe Halliwell’ wasn’t always Alyssa Milano. Lory Rom was the original cast, and she went on to shoot an unaired pilot. Alyssa later played Phoebe in the aired pilot and continued with the role. Admittedly, she was a better fit and brought so much life to the show with her acting.

Prue was Replaced in the Third Season

The same actors played the three sisters from season one to three. However, Shannen Doherty, who played Prue, left in the third season, so her character had to be killed off. However, the show maintained its juice by having a replacement, Rose McGowan, who plays Phoebe and Piper’s long-lost half-sister, called Paige.

The Producers Matched Character’s Flaws with the Sisters’ Magic

According to an interview with Constance Burge by InTouch Weekly, a creator of the show, some of the three sisters’ magic came from their normal lives as characters. For example, Prue was brilliant, so her magic is mind-related. On the other hand, Phoebe doesn’t have a definite vision for her life, but as a witch, she can see everyone’s future.

Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Were Friends Off-screen

Although problems between Doherty and Alyssa were why Prue was killed in the third season, they had been close friends enough for Doherty to be part of Alyssa’s bridesmaid team at her first wedding.  It was a wedding between Alyssa and Cinjun Tate. After their conflict, they became friends again.

While Charmed had an engaging storyline, great outfits, and a theme song, the cast made the show charming. The main cast of three women who play the three sisters was especially witty, beautiful, and interesting. Who was your favorite sister?
