While in LA a few weeks ago we had the pleasure of visiting the set of ABC’s Dr. Ken. I visited a TV set once before for another network a few years ago and I still think about it to this day.
I love everything about being behind the scenes, it feels so official to see where everything takes place.
About Dr. Ken
Doctor turned actor/comedian Ken Jeong (Community, The Hangover), plays Dr. Ken, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. He is always trying to be a good doctor, as well as a good husband and dad to his two kids. However, these good intentions have a way of driving everyone crazy at both work and at home. Luckily, his therapist wife Allison is just the right partner to keep things sane.
Dr. Ken stars Ken Jeong as Dr. Ken, Suzy Nakamura as Allison, Tisha Campbell-Martin as Damona, Dave Foley as Pat, Jonathan Slavin as Clark, Albert Tsai as Dave and Krista Marie Yu as Molly.
It was cool to see where the studio audience sits during the taping. We had the chance to sit int hose seats and chat with the cast.
Ken Jeong, as well as the entire cast were super friendly and very open to chatting with us about the show. Ken gave us a little background about an upcoming Christmas episode about a patient dealing with Seasonal Depression. His wife, Tran Jeong, who along with Ken are actual real-life Physicians helped bring the episode to light.
In the episode there is a lot going on; Allison is dealing with working at the HMO, and Molly dealing with college, Demona and her boyfriend, and a HUGE surprise for Clark takes place. Ken was very open about wanting us to share everything about his amazing show but I want to keep a surprise for those who watch the show.
Both Ken and Suzy touched on how much they want to portray the *Seasonal Depression aspect of the show with as much accuracy as they can so people who are watching, who may be going through it. **If you or someone you know suffers from Seasonal Depression or needs help, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255

“D.K.’s New Girlfriend” – When D.K. overhears Allison complain about him overstaying his welcome, he decides to move in with his girlfriend of three weeks. Meanwhile, Pat wants Dave to pretend he’s his adopted son; and Allison is convinced Molly wants to talk about something when she suggests they do a spa day, but the tables turn when Molly is the one doling out the advice.
