Last night I took the family to see Disney/Pixars BRAVE. My boys were excited to see it and so was I. Let me tell you, we weren’t disappointed at all!

Brave Disney Pixar

First of all, the animation in this movie was AMAZING! The scenery looked so real an so did the animals, especially, Angus, Merida’s horse, right down to his whiskers! A visually stunning movie for sure.

Disney Pixar BRAVE Merida

I enjoyed the story-line and really fell in love with the characters. Merida, the main character, you know, the one with the beautiful curly red hair, was your typical young girl, headstrong and strong willed in every way. Her character was completely believable to me and I really felt her emotions throughout the movie.

The father, Fergus, was hilarious, we laughed at him the entire movie. His interaction with the other Clans was super funny and so were the clan members. I picked out my crush, Craig Ferguson, voice immediately, LOL.

The three little boys and their shenanigans had us laughing as well, such cute little mischievous buggers they were. Aren’t they cute???

The Mom, Elinor, was my favorite next to Merida, and for many reasons. As a Mom, I could definitely relate to her and why she did the things she did. The Mother/Daughter dynamic was very well presented and I am sure many will relate to them both and their struggles. Watching their relationship unfold made me not only think of my boys when they get older, but of my Mom. It made me miss her even more, I even got teary-eyed during some scenes.

Overall, I thought BRAVE was wonderful, a great story and beautiful to watch, both visually and emotionally. There were a few “cheeky” scenes, and one that made a fellow movie goer’s little one breakdown, but then again, it may not have been the movie at all, he could have just been having a meltdown, lol.  I didn’t find it scary, nor did my boys.

I highly recommend taking your kids, your parents, your friends, to see BRAVE. This is a wonderful movies for both girls and boys, young and old.

A+++++

BRAVE is in theaters June 22, 2012, presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

“Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources – including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers – to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.
