When I found out that we would be meeting the Dancing with the Stars Dance Troupe I was at first excited until I also learned that they would be giving us a dance lesson. I will be honest when I say that it scared me a bit. I love to dance, but I dance to 80’s music nothing close to anything requiring dance steps. I was excited and now nervous.
The Dancing with the Stars Dance Troupe is a group of immensely talented dancers who perform on every episode in special dance bits and as back-up dancers with the celebrities and the professional dancer.
In the event that a professional is injured, such as Maksim Chmerkovskiy this season, a troupe member will fill in like Alan Bersten is doing now for Maksim and as you can see in the video with Heather Morris.
When we arrived at the dance studio we were met very enthusiastically by troupe members Alan Bersten, Brittany Cherry, Britt Stewart, Hayley Erbert, Artur Adamski and Brandon Armstrong! Especially Alan Bersten, he was super excited to meet us and was so fun to watch and interact with.
Once we got introduced to the troupe it was time to dance, Alan lead us as he showed us a few salsa moves. This is where I learned that I don’t do well with dances that require steps. It’s a lot harder than it looks!
After going over the steps a few times we were broken off into smaller groups and paired with a dancer. My group was lead by the super talented Haley Erbert. Bless her heart, she was so awesome with us, four Moms who have never danced in this fashion before, but she was super sweet and patient and I hope we did her proud in the end.
After learning some steps they announced that we would now be having a competition amongst the other bloggers and trainers. What?? This is where I panicked, I hate being in front of people for any reason but figure I might as well step out of my comfort zone because who else has this awesome opportunity to dance with the Dancing with the Stars Dance Troupe? Right? I mean, this is bucket list material for a lot of people so I figured I would give it my all.
Overall I think we had the best video, mainly because we just had fun as you can see by my friends Kristin’s moves on the left. I have this horrible affliction that when I move my feet and arm movement stops, and vice versa, it was hilarious but you know what? I did it, and I did it in front of 21 other Moms and troupe members.
