I think many of you will be happy to know that CMT has its first ever scripted sitcom called “Working Class.“
The show stars Melissa Peterman of Reba fame, as Carli Mitchell, a single mom from a rough and tumble background, trying to give her kids a better life by moving them to an upscale suburb. She quickly finds that making the transition to “the good life” is harder than she thought. She’s unwittingly befriended by her cranky neighbor, Hank (Ed Asner), her only “career” prospect is a glorified deli job at the local grocery store, and the man she falls for not only already has a girlfriend – but he’s also her boss, Rob (Patrick Fabian). With her ladies-man brother, Nick (Steve Kazee), to help her out (when he’s not acting like one of the kids himself), Carli faces the challenges of parenting, dating, and making friends in her new community by doing more with less, staying true to herself, and approaching each day with a touch of working class.
I had the opportunity to watch a sneak peek of Working Class before its official premiere on January 28 at 8pm EST/PST (an all-new episode will also air at 8:30 pm) on CMT. First off, let me say how much I love Melissa Peterman, my Mom and I used to watch Reba and Melissa always made us crack up. She is a great comedic actress and I am glad to see she has a venue to show off her talent. Also, the iconic Ed Asner is on the show and we all know what a great actor he is. The chemistry between the two of them is great, and I’m looking forward to watching more episodes to see how their relationship develops.
Working Class is a sitcom for the everyday family, families who are working hard to make ends meet and to make the best for their children. It is one that shows how hard it is for a single Mom to juggle kids, home and work and lets not forget, a love life 🙂 I enjoyed the show, and the way the character’s were portrayed, it’s funny and down to earth and I think many people will relate to the story lines.
