I love to cook, but more than cook, I love to bake! I bake to relieve stress, it relaxes me and even though I cannot eat most of what I bake due to gluten, my family is all to happy to eat my creations. I was excited to receive several new cakes from Duncan Hines.
The Spring Velvets cake is a limited edition that contains both a bright yellow cake mix and a pink mix. I decided that I would make cupcakes using this mix. Each mix comes in its own bag, needs 2 eggs, water and butter. The batter is very different from a traditional batter, this one was super airy and almost icing like.
I added the yellow batter to the bottom of the tins and added the pink on top to get the following result….
I love how they turned out and so do the kids. They would make a great party cupcake for a Spring celebration.

Next I tried the New Duncan Hones Signature Blue Velvet and Signature Pink Velvet cake mixes. I decided that I wanted to mix the two together and do a layer cake.
Again, this batter was very airy and creamy and smelled and looked delicious!
You can almost see how moist and airy this cake is. I love the colors and how bright they came out. The family said that it was “amazing” and half the cake is gone already. Now that’s a testament right there!
This would make a great baby shower cake if the expectant mother doesn’t know the sex of the baby yet. It is also perfect if they do know, pink for a girl and blue for a boy!

I was also sent the New Salted Caramel Decadent Brownie mix that I can’t wait to bake for my husband. He loves brownies and this mix sounds divine! His birthday is on Friday so instead of a cake, I will definitely make these.
