The Book of Life Family Movie Night Review

On the 30th, my family and I had our weekly family movie night. Our movie of the night was The Book of Life.

The Book of Life is an animated comedy about a man named Manolo who is torn between the expectations of his family and the desires of his heart. He sets off on an epic quest that spans three spectacular worlds in order to reunite with his one true love and defend his village.

As you can see, we enjoyed getting into “character” for the viewing party, even our dog Mystique got in on the fun, doesn’t she just look so thrilled? LOL!

We really loved this movie and laughed throughout. I loved the folklore of the movie, and how they told the story, especially the Day of The Dead and it’s importance. I also really liked how they handled the whole bull fighting issue, but will leave that up to the viewer to experience that for themselves.

The story was cute, but the visuals were amazing! We really enjoyed the look of this movie and found the animation to be top notch and fun to look at.

Our favorite character throughout the entire movie was the Chuy, the pig. Every time he came on the screen we laughed so hard! When you buy the Blu-ray, you will get to see just how funny Chuy is in a short called “The Adventures of Chuy.”

Another great aspect of The Book of Life is the music, there are great Latin-inspired versions of popular songs by Mumford & Sons, Radiohead, Elvis Presley, Biz Markie, Rod Stewart and more! We had a blast singing along!
