In season two, on the surface, everything seems the same in the seaside town of Monterey, CA: mothers continue to dote, husbands support, children are adorable, houses are beautiful. But the night of the school fundraiser changed all that, leaving the community reeling as the “Monterey Five” bond together to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. Meanwhile, Perry’s grieving mother Mary Louise Wright (Streep) comes to town in search of answers after son’s death.

Having watched the 1st season and LOVING it, I was super excited to see the seconds season, especially since Meryl Streep would be joining the cast as Celeste’s mother-in-law, Mary Louise Wright. This season relied heavily on the fallout of the first season, so I would suggest that you pick up season one if you haven’t already watched. Of course, Meryl was amazing and I loved seeing her in this type of role.
Did I like it more than the first? No, but I did enjoy it. They delved into the characters more this season and the dark macabre humor was still intact this season as well as the messy and deceiving lives of all of the characters.
I found it enjoyable and found myself still invested in watching these characters and how they maneuver the “lies” in their lives.
