I received a FairWind FWPC6L Pressure Cooker for the purpose of this review. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.

My husband and I have always wanted a pressure cooker because we had always heard so many great things about them. How it makes meat so tender if shreds with ease and how you can cook meals much faster and with more flavor than in a conventional oven. We were sent the FairWind FWPC6L Pressure Cooker to review and the first meal we cooked was a traditional roast.

As you can see the pressure cooker has traditional buttons like rice, meat/chicken, steam, slow cook, etc. However, the actual cooking buttons Faint Scent, Standard and Strong Fragrance took a little getting used too since we were not familiar with these terms. The buttons are essentially Low, Medium and High Pressure, respectively. When cooking meat on Strong, it produces meat that creates a fall off the bone effect.

The cooking chamber was quite deep and large enough for us to place two chuck roasts inside and potatoes and carrots. Here’s how we cooked our roasts.

First, sear the meat in a very hot pan and be sure to sear all sides.

While the meat is searing, place carrots and potatoes and 1 packet of Pot Roast seasoning and water into the cooker.

Add the meat in the cooker and lock the lid in place. Set the pressure cooker to the Meat/Chicken setting and then let it cook. The pressure cooker will determine how long to cook the meat for you and will stop cooking when the meat is ready.

The pressure cooker determines how long to cook based on a number of different pre-loaded settings. The only buttons that need a time input from you are the Slow Cook and the On Demand Pressure settings. You can choose to set the time using the + and – buttons by the hour. The manual explains each setting and how to cook some basic items.
After getting over the learning curve, we fell in love with the FairWind FWPC6L Pressure Cooker and use it at least once or twice a week. It really makes the best pot roast ever!
