Thinking of moving your office/store? There can be many benefits to relocating your business premises. Here are some of the reasons to consider moving.
You’ve outgrown your premises
If your business is growing, you may have reached a point in which your premises is no longer fit for purpose. Perhaps you’re having to turn away customers from your restaurant night after night – relocating could allow you to move to larger premises where you can fit more tables. Alternatively, you may want a larger office to house more employees.
In certain cases, there may be ways of simply making better use of existing space such as moving tables around. When it comes to offices, it’s also worth considering the option of remote employees.
You want to increase your visibility
Certain locations could make your business more visible. If you own a shop or a bar, a good location could be key to improving footfall. Such locations may be more expensive, but it could be worth the added custom.
There are other ways to improve visibility such as using signage and increasing your online presence – these could be alternative options if you can’t afford to move.
You need to reduce running costs
It’s possible that you could be struggling to afford your current premises due to high rent. Moving to a new location could reduce your business expenses and leave you with more disposable income to pour into your business or raise the wages of you and your employees.
Negotiating bills with creditors may be an alternative option. There could also be other cutbacks that you can make such as changing suppliers.
You want to strengthen your brand
Relocating to a new area could be good for your brand’s reputation. If your office is located in a village, you could find that moving to a trendy commercial area of a town or city improves your credibility. It’s possible that you may also want to move away from a bad area that could be dragging down your reputation.
Relocating to strengthen your brand is likely to be expensive and you may find that there are cheaper options such as outsourcing a virtual business address. This could allow you to use an address in a prime location for mailing purposes, while actually being based somewhere else.
You want to improve accessibility
Your location may not be easily accessible for you, your employees or your clients. There could be a more central location that people are more easily able to travel to – this could reduce commute time for employees and encourage clients to visit you. Your current location may also have issues such as a lack of parking space or possibly no disabled access.
Accessibility isn’t something that’s easy to improve without relocating. In the case of helping people with disabilities, you may be able to add ramps and lifts.
